Sign of Progress? Fort Hood Commander Relieved of Duty for Bullying

Toxic leadership within the military has been named as a cause of everything from suicide to an array of criminal activity. MFFJ calls this behavior a "Gateway Crime" for that very reason. Recently, Col. Michael Schoenfeldt, who led 1st Armored Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, was relieved of duty after an investigation into Fort Hood was started with the murder of Spc. Vanessa Guillen. Military Families for Justice wants everyone to know that as horrid and heartbreaking as Spc. Guillen's murder is, sadly, it is one of countless murders within the military. The families of these victims are often ignored; rarely seen in the public eye as with Guillen's case. Months, years, even decades go by without any assistance or attention to their plight for justice. Most of the time justice never arrives.

Will this bold move of holding leadership accountable be the turning point? Only time will tell.
