BRANDON 911

On June 16, 2021, Teri and Patrick Caserta joined Respresentative Seth Moulton (D-MA), Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) and Representative Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) to reintroduce "The Brandon Act." The Brandon Act, is "legislation named in honor of their son, fallen United States Navy Petty Officer Third Class Brandon Caserta. The Caserta family joined lawmakers to announce the bill's reintroduction at a press conference in front of the United States Capitol Building.

Military Families for Justice has worked closely with the Caserta family in the last 18 months. During this time an upcoming podcast episode was in production. We do support The Brandon Act, just as the Caserta family supports our Bill of Rights for Bereaved Military Families. As the Caserta's diligently worked to articulate just what The Brandon Act means, so people would immediately grasp the concept, MFFJ Founder Tracy Shue said:

"Patrick, what you are describing is a verbal 911."

Here at MFFJ we have given this issue a lot of further thought. And it is our sincere recommendation that much like the Amber Alerts we are all so familiar with that the phrase "Brandon 911" will be adopted by all branches of the military as the call for help for service members in distress from toxic leadership and mental health crisis. In other words, a verbal 911 to help prevent military suicides.

Be sure to sign the petition for The Brandon Act.
